GREENPORT, N.Y., May 22, 2024 \u2014 The American College of Health Care Administrators (ACHCA) honors Greg Garrett, Peconic Landing\u2019s Chief Operating Officer and Administrator, with the 2024 Eli Pick Facility Leadership Award. Only 2% of facilities nationwide met the initial selection criteria. This year, thirty-nine administrators in 18 states met all eligibility requirements and were awarded the facility leadership award nationally. The leadership award was celebrated at ACHCA\u2019s 57th Annual Convocation and Exposition in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, on Tuesday, May 7.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Garrett, a licensed Nursing Home Administrator and Certified Aging Services Professional, has served the award-winning life plan community Peconic Landing since 2006. In his role as Chief Operating Officer and Administrator, he oversees the community\u2019s skilled nursing and assisted living neighborhoods. With 20 years of experience in administration, Garrett has led the team in achieving a consistent five-star Medicare rating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Based on the premise that facility excellence reflects leadership excellence, this award recognizes the current administrator of record for the full year reported for the Oct 2023 Care Compare Refresh (April 1, 2022, to March 31, 2023). Eligibility for this award is based on three years of skilled nursing facility (SNF) survey data, including the Health, Fire Safety, and Complaint Surveys and top quartile performance on designated Quality Measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the skilled nursing neighborhood at Peconic Landing experiences fewer hospitalizations, fewer outpatient emergency department visits, fewer falls with major injury, and fewer residents with symptoms of depression compared to state and national averages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Facility Leadership Award was introduced in 2008 by one of ACHCA\u2019s most revered leaders, the late Eli Pick. A former executive director of the Ballard Rehabilitation Center in Des Plaines, Illinois for over 30 years, Pick embodied excellence as an Administrator who cared for his residents, their families, and his community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A dedicated advocate for older adults statewide, Garrett also serves on LeadingAge New York\u2019s Services Board and is a past recipient of the Thomas Clarke Young Administrator of the Year. Garrett holds a master\u2019s degree in health service administration, a bachelor’s degree in economics, and is a member of the American College of Health Care Administrators, the premier association for leaders in post-acute and aging services. This is Garrett\u2019s eighth time receiving the Eli Pick recognition since 2013.
