Peconic Landing stands on 144-acres of the historic property home to Brecknock Hall. One of Long Island\u2019s most historic examples of 19th-century Italianate architecture, the Hall dates back to 1857, built using the finest materials and effects of its time. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, it served as the family residence of David Gelston Floyd, whaling entrepreneur and grandson of General William Floyd, the only Long Islander to have signed the Declaration of Independence. Thanks to the dedication of the not-for-profit\u00a0Brecknock Hall Foundation<\/a>\u00a0and many volunteers, Brecknock Hall was restored to its original splendor in 2008, giving new life to this historic gem that is now used for community gatherings, cultural events, and educational programs.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The Brecknock Hall Foundation<\/a>, which is spearheaded by a dedicated Board of Trustees, works towards the continued preservation of the history and heritage of Brecknock Hall, offering educational programs and events open to the public, including Peconic Landing\u2019s annual End of Summer Celebration & Fireworks Show each year. The Foundation is pleased to introduce local residents and visitors to the history of the Floyd family and their contributions to the community, celebrating Brecknock Hall as one of the largest mid-nineteenth century stone mansions ever built on Long Island.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
