Professor Kelton will discuss this topic\, focusing particularly on the struggle of the British to maintain a North American empire set ablaze by conflict between settlers and Native conflict over land and resources.British efforts to mobilize Indigenous Peoples to fight for the Empire angered American colonists\, helped forge an emerging national identity\, and played an important role in the ultimate outcome of the War for Independence. \nDr. Kelton is a Stony Brook University professor\, and the Gardiner Chair in American History.
