DESCRIPTION:This remarkable collection features the astronomical artwork of Peconic Landing’s own Joan Tripp. For more information or to schedule a viewing\, contact our Cultural Arts Coordinator at 631-477-3800 ext. 229. \nAbout the Artist: \nJoan Tripp was born in Sag Harbor\, New York. Her father studied art at Beaux de Art in Paris and her grandfather showed in the Royal Academy of England. She was given art lesson in oil painting in her early years. She graduated from Ithaca College with a B.S. in Music Education and from CW Post with a Masters in Special Education. She taught both in Rhinebeck\, NY and Elwood\, Long Island. She also attended classes in Classical Art at Hofstra University. She painted with Micheal Viera in East Hampton and was represented in the Romany Kramoris Gallery in Sag Harbor. In 2017 Joan moved to St. Petersburg\, Florida. There she showed in the Woodfield Fine Art Gallery\, The Marean Art Center\, and The Warehouse Art District where she has a solo show of her astronomical art. She is a member of the International Association of Astronomical Artists. Joan has been a member of the Peconic Landing community since 2022 and is a member of The Friends of Classical Music\, the Art Club\, the Brecknock Hall committee\, the Employee Appreciation Fund\, and serves as a representative to the Cooperative Board. She presented a class in Neurographics to members in the Fall of 2023.

SUMMARY:2024 End of Summer Celebration
DESCRIPTION:Peconic Landing and the Brecknock Hall Foundation are excited to announce they will host the annual End of Summer Celebration and Fireworks Show\, open to the greater community\, on Sunday\, September 1. The event is sponsored by a 2024 Suffolk County Omnibus Grant. \n  \nSince its 2012 inception\, this free public event has consistently brought in an attendance of over 1000 members of the greater public. The event attracts a multi-generational\, multi-cultural audience to a fun and uplifting event on Labor Day weekend when the North Fork hosts thousands of visitors from places far and wide. \nThe evening starts with music and dancing on the patio of Brecknock Hall followed by a spectacular fireworks show over the ponds. Attendees are invited to bring folding chairs or blankets to enjoy the show from the surrounding lawn. \nThe event starts at 7 pm with a live performance by the Gordon Dukes Band. The performance will include popular hits for all generations to enjoy. Fireworks will take off at sunset\, approximately 8:15 pm\, launched over Peconic Landing’s community pond. Fireworks will be supplied and produced by Starfire Corporation. \nA rain date is scheduled for Monday\, September 2.
